Lucas Silva - BIOGRAPHY

I am a filmmaker, and independent musical producer. During 15 years I realised documentaries on afro-Colombian culture, ethnic minorities, and other popular cultures of my country, Colombia. The major part of my work is devoted to the heritage of the African culture and its presence in America. I did study cinema at the Louis Lumière school (Paris).

   

In 1996, I released a movie "AMAPOLA: MAUDITE FLOWER "(30') with filmmaker Marta Rodriguez. The same year I released the movie "THE CREOLES KINGS OF THE CHAMPETA" (30') in the town of Cartagena (Colombian Caribbean coast). This film was about the new tendencies of afro-Colombian music, with a special focus on Champeta Criolla style. Co-produced by "LA HUIT PRODUCCION" (Paris), it was projected in various festivals and broadcasted on several television channels (TV5, Arte). Between 1998 and 2000 I completed two new documentarys, "The Children of the Thunder" (52 '), and "The Three Powers" (52'), about the popular religiosity in Venezuela.

In 2000, I released a new documentary about afro-Colombian music, entitled "SONS OF BENKOS" (52'), co-produced by the company "Films du Village" (Paris, France). We won an Honourable mention of the Jury in the Festival "Bilan of the Ethnographic Movie" - Bartok Price, Museum of Man, Paris, 2001.

Between 2002 and 2009 I released many musical video clips, for musiciens like Frederic Galliano(‘Alla Kassi Magni’ shot in Mali Africa), or the afrocolombian hip hop band Choc Quib Town (‘De Donde Vengo Yo).

In the year 2010 i created my own film producing company, HOLLYWOODOO FILMS, with which i have won numerous awards with my film projexts. Right now i am making my first fiction short film, "DIVINE MELODIES OF THE DEVIL ON EARTH" for which i have received financing from Proimagenes which is Colombia's financing film division, and i am working on the writing and developement of a Feature Film Fiction project, "The Adventures of Koffi Koko".

Yo soy un director de cine y productor musical independiente. Durante 15 años me di cuenta de documentales sobre la cultura afro-colombiana, las minorías étnicas y otras culturas populares de mi país, Colombia. La mayor parte de mi trabajo está dedicado a la herencia de la cultura africana y su presencia en Estados Unidos. Hice cine estudio en la escuela Louis Lumière (París).
En 1996, publiqué una película "AMAPOLA: Maudite FLOR" (30 ') con el cineasta Marta Rodríguez. El mismo año publiqué la película "LOS REYES CRIOLLOS DE LA CHAMPETA" (30 ') en la ciudad de Cartagena (Colombia costa del Caribe). Esta película fue sobre las nuevas tendencias de la música afro-colombiana, con un enfoque especial en estilo Champeta Criolla. Co-producido por "LA PRODUCCION HUIT" (París), que se proyectó en varios festivales y transmitido por varios canales de televisión (TV5, Arte). Entre 1998 y 2000 realicé dos nuevos documentarys, "Los hijos de los Thunder" (52 '), y "Los Tres Poderes" (52'), sobre la religiosidad popular en Venezuela.
En 2000, publiqué un nuevo documental sobre la música afro-colombiana, titulado "Hijos de Benkos" (52 '), co-producidos por la empresa "Films du Village" (París, Francia). Hemos ganado una mención honorífica del Jurado en el Festival "Bilan de la Película Etnográfico" - Bartok Precio, Museo del Hombre, París, 2001.
Entre 2002 y 2009 publiqué numerosos videoclips musicales, por musiciens como Frederic Galliano (shot 'Alla Kassi Magni' en Malí, África), o afrocolombiana hip hop band Choc Quib Town ('De Donde Vengo Yo).
En el año 2010 creé mi propia empresa de producción de cine, HOLLYWOODOO FILMS, con el que he ganado numerosos premios con mis projexts película. En este momento estoy haciendo mi primer cortometraje de ficción, "Melodías DIVINAS DEL DIABLO EN LA TIERRA", por la que he recibido financiación del PROIMAGENES que financia división de cine de Colombia, y estoy trabajando en la redacción y Desarrollos de un proyecto de ficción Largometraje , "Las aventuras de Koffi Koko".
